DANCING INTO SUNSET 2025 SEASON 9
August 26, 2025
Free community event, Dancing Into Sunset, headed into its 9th Season on June 5, 2025. Located in Pomona Park, 93 S. Third Ave. in Fruitport, the event moved steadily through a summer of great bands, energetic dancers, and lively crowds. Its season line-up included several fan favorites from years past, and will conclude with The Scottville Clown Band on Tuesday, August 26, starting at 7:00pm.
Sponsored by Schap Specialty Machine, The Storage Group, and the Community Foundation for Muskegon County, the night will include a performance by close to 50 band members. The Storage Group’s parking lot, which is normally available for fans to park in, will be reserved for parking for band members. We highly recommend that fans park in Fruitport High School’s parking lots (357 N. 6th Ave., Fruitport), which are accessible at the corner of 6th Ave. and Beech St., just a few blocks away from Pomona Park. [NOTE: To reach the high school’s parking areas, fans can turn at the corner of 3rd Ave. and Beech St. by the Speedway gas station and travel south to 6th Ave. Alternately, fans can turn from Park St. onto 6th Ave., just a few blocks down from the high school.] Volunteers with signs will be stationed all around the area and at the corner of 6th Ave. and Park St., directing vehicles to the high school, for those who are not familiar with the area. There will be signs marking handicap parking behind the Band Shell, and signage for other parking areas posted around the area as well. Unfortunately, there is no parking available in the old Fifth Third Bank parking lot due to ongoing construction there.
In addition to the night’s events, the Red Harbor Transit Laker Loop Trolley will still run its usual route, circling Spring Lake every hour with stops at both Pomona Park and Norm’s Ice Cream. So, fans on the Laker Loop Route can take advantage of this opportunity as well. Fans should come hungry! Vendors on site for the night will include Da Kidd BBQ, Cadena Bros Pizzeria, and Happy Matt’s Kettlecorn.

The Scottville Clown Band had so much fun in Fruitport the last four years, they wanted to come back to close out our season again! Called “The Big Noise from Scottville,” The Scottville Clown Band is known for their colorful clothing and amazing antics. Members have come from 14 states, including Michigan, coming in from all walks of life to entertain crowds all around our state. The band was originally formed in 1903, taking a break during World War II. In 1947, Ray Schulte reformed the band, and they’ve been clowning around ever since.
