Pigeon Hill Brewing Co: Monday Night Bike Ride
Monday evenings, beginning at 6:00pm, come to Pigeon Hill Brewing Co. to join in a group bicycle ride! The goal is for everyone to start and finish together for a total ride time of 90 minutes. Roll On Muskegon
Roll On Muskegon is a casual, family friendly, community bike ride on the streets of Muskegon. Every Monday night we leave as a group from the downtown Muskegon Farmer’s Market to visit and explore a different neighborhood of Muskegon.

Serene Yoga Beach Series: Muskegon State Park
Serene Yoga will host a Beach Yoga Series June 5 – August 28 at Muskegon State Park. Classes will be held Wednesday mornings from 10:00am -11:00am. The drop-in rate is $10. Open Mic Night at The Red Lotus
The fourth Friday of every month from 7:00pm – 9:00pm, come to the Red Lotus Gallery for Muskegon’s longest running open mic event! Any kind of talent is welcome; songs, poems, readings, comedy, plays, dancing or whatever other skill you want to show off. Observers are welcome, too. They only ask that everyone remain mostly clothed and that you don’t burn the place down! Other than those simple rules, it’s truly an OPEN mic event. For that reason, they encourage parents to use their discretion as to whether to bring children, as there most likely will be adult language and subject matter. Feel free to bring in your own food and drinks too. Donations are encouraged, but not required.
They’re in the lower level of the Century Club building, so use the main front entrance of the building and head downstairs. There is an elevator for those who need it. Just call 231-981-8525 and they will let you in the back door.
Summer Adventures at Muskegon Winter Sports Complex
Don’t wait for snow…luge in the summer! The Muskegon Winter Sports Complex is open Saturdays and Sundays in the summer from 10:00am – 2:00pm so you can enjoy a variety of warm weather sporting activities. The cost is $10 for 5 rounds of arrows, and $15 for luge add-on. www.msports.org
• Wheel Luge:
Slide down the only wheel luge track in North America! Wheel luge is done on a specially designed track with the same sleds used on the ice, but with wheels attached. The design of the track, adaptive equipment and surrounding common areas also accommodate persons with disabilities. Shorter than the ice track, average runs take approximately 9 seconds while covering 300 feet of track.
Tickets for summer luge are not sold in advance. Guests are served on a first come, first served basis, but wait times are rarely more than 15 minutes. The cost is $10 for 4 runs, and $15 for the archery add-on. All equipment and instruction are provided with the purchase of a pass. Sneakers, long sleeve shirts and long pants are highly recommended to protect your skin from fiberglass “burns” in case you brush up against the side of the luge track. Participants must be at least 5 years of age.
• Learn Archery Fundamentals:
Muskegon State Park visitors can stop by the Sports Complex for a round of archery guided by an instructor. All participants receive a quick lesson explaining the basic fundamentals of archery. Participants can then shoot rounds of arrows at the controlled archery range. This activity is fun for ages 6 and older.
Sweet Saturdays at the Lakeside Emporium
Join the Lakeside Emporium on Saturday afternoons from 12:00pm – 4:00pm to enjoy food, entertainment, and “Treasure Alley” – a collection of vendors ranging from artists and authors to crafters, collectors, and even pottery demonstrations, all conveniently located on-site at the Lakeside Emporium. Original Theater Production: “42”

Thursday, July 25 at 6:00pm, come to the Muskegon Museum of Art for the original theater production of “42!” According to Oxford professor Renee Adams, a study conducted on over 2 million art auctions sales concluded that paintings by female artists sell at a discount of 42%. Why? Are women themselves less effective as artists? Or is there a bias among art buyers? The study asked volunteers to identify unlabeled paintings as done by male or female artists. Volunteers could not distinguish between the two. This unearthed a deep rooted gender bias in the art community that spans centuries. “42” attempts to explore gender bias like this from a generational perspective.
In this story, produced by Kimberly and Jacy Harscha, a 42-year-old mother exposes her own bias through memories, some lighthearted and some tragic, that she shares with her teenage daughter. The play emphasis generational blindness—the idea that “unseen” things we are surrounded by as young adults can dictate how we react in the future. Did events of the 1980s and 1990s shape women into a stereotype unrecognizable by the young adults of society today? Are “kids these days” able to take off those blinders and have generational vision? This one-hour production written by the mother and daughter team of Kimberly and Jacy Harsch invites you to be the judge.

White Lake Youth Theatre Presents: Let’s Make a Scene

This year, it’s all about character. Through a series of shorts scenes, students ages 10-18 will delve into various characters and share contemporary stories of loss, relationships, breaking up, cheating, summer, boredom and escaping to Canada. Told by two to three actors each, the play will challenge actors of all ages to delve deep into each of the characters and tell their truth.
Theater Box Office hours are 1:00pm – 5:00pm weekdays, and one hour before curtain. Season Passes are your best value. Make a single purchase, and then pick and choose the plays you wish to attend. Single show tickets are $25 for adults and $22 for students.

Music at the Light: Western Michigan Dulcimer Friends

Summer days are for unwinding, and what better way to enjoy a summer’s evening than relaxing along the water on the lawn of the White River Light Station! Their family-friendly events are free to the public. Bring your blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy time together watching a movie, or listening to folk inspired music while visiting and exploring the White River Light Station. The museum and tower will be open for the standard admission charge of $5 for adults and $2 for children 12 and under. In case of rain, events will be held at the Fruitland Township Office (4545 Nestrom Rd., Whitehall, MI 49461)
Saturday, July 27 at 2:00pm, it’s Music at the Light featuring a Dulcimer concert from the “Western Michigan Dulcimer Friends!” Come enjoy a Saturday afternoon with a group of acoustic musicians that, between them, have decades of experience playing folk music. Maranatha Summer Concert Series: Sara Groves

She has joined forces with International Justice Mission to advocate for victims of human trafficking for the past 12 years. Sara has been nominated for 7 Dove Awards and has produced a string of successful albums including her latest, “Abide with Me,” a collection of hymns recorded in a 110-year-old church.

Star Party

Saturday, July 27 from 9:00pm – 11:30pm, the Muskegon Astronomical Society invites you to a Star Party at their observatory! Star Parties are scheduled events hosted by members. All visitors are welcome to come and learn about amateur astronomy and view the night sky through the society’s telescopes. You may also bring your own telescope. They will help you get started and show you how to make adjustments. They will also provide printed materials. If weather conditions are questionable, contact Dennis Allen at 231-777-1013 to find out the status of the event. If it’s cloudy, they may give you a tour of the facility or do a presentation. There is no charge, but donations are greatly appreciated.
