State Rep. Luke Meerman (R-Coopersville) invites residents to attend his June office hours in Fruitport. He also recently held office hours in Coopersville and Ravenna.

Local office hours are an opportunity for residents to meet one-on-one with Rep. Meerman to discuss issues affecting the state, ask questions about state government, and request assistance with issues they are experiencing. No appointment is necessary, and all are welcome to attend.

June office hours will be held from 8 to 9 a.m. on Monday, June 26 at Fruitport Village Inn located at 340 N 3^rd Ave in Fruitport.

Pioneer Resources presents the 6th annual “Hats and Horses” fundraiser on Saturday, May 6, 2023. Attendees are encouraged to get tickets early and dress in derby attire/hats for this Kentucky Derby-themed party held at the elegant Bella Maria’s Event Center in Norton Shores. The event begins at 5:00PM and will feature the Kentucky Derby Race live! Additional activities include silent auction, live auction, buffet dinner, cash bar, and more!

This year’s proceeds will be used to support Pioneer Trails Camp, the agency’s barrier-free camp location that allows for participants to experience a true camp experience!

The Mission of Pioneer Resources is to help people with disabilities and seniors to attain independence and dignity by creating opportunities for participation in the community.

Pioneer Resources began as an unincorporated association of parents and educators in the late 1940s, operating as Pioneer School and providing special education and therapy. More than 65 years later, the agency offers a diverse array of individualized supports and services for persons with disabilities as well as seniors.

Experience a student event like no other!

Join us on March 15 & 16, 2023 at the Frauenthal Theater as we watch hundreds of students, from 30 different high schools, across 5 West Michigan counties, showing off their talents! The two-night show will feature different schools each night and will end with an awards ceremony on March 16. Student performers will showcase entertainment in the way of solo/duo artists, group performances, theater skits and much more! Students with digital media, visual, and literary art submissions will be recognized on stage each night.

Come for one night or both nights and experience this one-of-a-kind talent show! Which school will take home the grandest honor of them all, the Gary W. Ostrom Showstopper Award? You’ll have to come and see for yourself! Also, don’t forget to visit the Reception Gallery in the Hilt Building, March 1-27, to view the visual art submitted by area high school students!

MUSKEGON, MI — In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Muskegon Museum of Art is hosting a free community day on Monday, January 16 from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. The public is invited to explore the galleries with Muskegon High School student docents, watch a film screening of ‘Black Man’, and get creative with an MLK Day art activity in the museum classroom.

Muskegon High School’s AP Art class will be docents from 1 PM – 3 PM to talk about artwork from the MMA permanent collection. Each student chose a work of art from the collection to research and present to museum visitors on MLK Day.

The film, ‘Black Man’, is a feature-length documentary that tells the stories of the men behind SONS: Seeing the African American Male. The film is a kaleidoscope of raw, riveting, and candid conversations with black men about their lives, their loves, their losses, their AMERICA. Nearly three dozen men share their perspectives of the everyday black man in ways we have not seen on film. Muskegon is the backdrop for ‘Black Man’, but the stories are Any Town, USA. A screening of ‘Black Man’ will be in the Muskegon Museum of Art’s auditorium at 1:30 PM.

The Muskegon Museum of Art classroom will be open for a special MLK Day art activity from 11 AM – 1 PM.

All exhibitions currently on display, including Through Our Lens: Hands, will be free and open to the public to visit from 11 AM – 5 PM.
